Alan Takes a Good Hard Look at his Nutrition

March 6, 2019

Nutrition, you can’t outwork a bad diet. Lisa and I had a had a serious sit down for the most informative one on one session I have ever had about nutrition. Quite honestly, sounds easy enough, eat less and exercise more. Burn more than you take in, create a deficit. The amount of info is like drinking water from a fire hose. She had a clear and detailed presentation to outline the basics and set a goal. We decided a great way to track my intake of food is by using My Fitness Pal app. At first it seemed a bit of a hassle, between appointments, breakfast and lunch meetings then headed to the gym, emailing and returning calls, how could I ever find the time to enter what I eat, I’ve got enough things going on. After the first week, it just happens, they say “ do something for 21 days to create a new habit”, we will see if that’s true.

Happy St Patrick’s Day!So this last week was a bit scary for me. A trip to Florida in the middle of my plan, this is going to ruin everything, how the heck am I going to handle being away from the gym and eat right. Coach or therapist? Not sure but Lisa could be either bc we sat down and discussed the trip, meals ahead and exercise plans that I could do myself. These work boondoggles are great trips, little work and lots of free time and they pretty much serve banquets style meals each day. Breakfast, lunch and dinners were all brought up and a plan of attack was made. Now for the hard part, she wants me to weigh myself before I leave and as soon as I come back, holy s@*$”, there’s no way I can do this. Well guess what, I did it without gaining a pound. So what was the reason, I say a combination of things, the accountability, the exercise routines we learn in class are very easy to preform at these resort facilities. In fact, as I was in the gym doing my routine I could here the voices of Jen, drew, Lisa and Danielle all calling out the moves, I actually started laughing at one point bc I thought my God they’re in my head. Being in the financial business, if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that you need a PLAN and it’s this very item that led to my successful trip. Que the cliche “ people don’t plan to fail they fail to plan!”
