I KNEW HOW TO EAT TO LOSE WEIGHT, BUT LISA TAUGHT ME HOW TO EAT TO BE HEALTHY.
I’ve been big my whole life. After seeing this picture, I thought to myself “I have GOT to do something.” I was unhealthy. So I put myself on a strict diet and started going to the gym. It worked… sort of. I lost some weight then plateaued, got frustrated, fell off track and started gaining weight again.
Then I joined Fortitude. The workouts are intense, but Lisa and Danielle are excellent at helping you adapt the workouts to your own personal fitness level. The workouts push me to my limit and I love it. When I went to the gym on my own, I would do 30 minutes on the treadmill and that was it. I was missing important components like strength training and stretching. I had always been interested in group fitness, but I found that the class times at most gyms didn’t work with my schedule. The Fort offers afternoon classes along with early morning and evening … perfect!
After a short time I was seeing progress. My muscles felt stronger and I could keep up in class. However, I wasn’t seeing the weight loss I wanted so I asked Lisa for Nutrition coaching. And after working with her, I realized that Nutrition was the missing puzzle piece.
I was absolutely clueless when it came to healthy eating. I knew how to eat to lose weight, but Lisa taught me how to eat to be healthy. I know now that when you eat a balanced diet and stay physically active, the weight loss comes along with it. The difference is that my goal isn’t weight loss, it’s living a healthy lifestyle.
So here I am, on the journey to a truly healthy lifestyle.

I met Lisa almost two years ago and immediately fell in love with the Fort. I have struggled with and desperate to lose weight my entire adult life.
After signing up for one-on-one nutritional sessions and personal training sessions I immediately became inspired. I started my clean eating journey by eating more fruits and vegetables and cooking up a storm. I found that I could be creative and that this could be fun.
I’d say the most important lesson I have learned is to be purposeful with what I decide to eat.
Over the time I’ve worked with Lisa I’ve lost up to 12 pounds and when your 5’1″ that’s a lot!
Now that I am at my goal weight I will continue down my clean eating path. Why Weight? has helped me understand how important it is to plan, shop, cook, and of course exercise.
I love the group classes at the Fort and how all the trainers are so friendly and encouraging.
I highly recommend trying one or two classes and you will see what I mean!
And as far as the one on one sessions with Lisa, I cannot say how valuable her support and encouragement have been to me. I always think of our conversations and her great advice when I feel myself slipping off course.
